When I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada last year, my utmost biggest concern when I arrived was where to get my beloved coffee. I’m not a fan of Starbucks, or most coffee chains. Ask most devout coffee lovers, and they will agree, that locally roasted coffee is the best way to go. I’m not knocking America’s favorite coffee spots, but I have a taste for local and fresh. From my experience, many coffee retailers tend to roast their coffee beans far past my liking. Also, the shelf life of coffee beans is sometimes misunderstood.
Coffee should truly be enjoyed within a few weeks of roasting. Much of the coffee you might purchase from a grocer or coffee chain could literally be months old. That’s not something I’m into. So, finding a local roaster was one of my first to do’s when I moved to the Las Vegas Valley. I’m pleased to say I have found many local roasters, as well as amazing coffee shops. Vegas has been a culinary dream, and great coffee isn’t an exception.
Mothership was one of my first discoveries in the Las Vegas local coffee scene. I’m so very glad I found them. Well, they’re technically located in Henderson, NV. but it’s Las Vegas none the less. In a city built mostly on tourism, some local artisan food and beverage establishments have had a struggle making their own waves. It’s places like Mothership that truly set the bar, and their in house roasted coffee is amazing. I frequently purchase their Star Destroyer espresso roast for at home. This spit is a definite must see, with amazing coffee, pastries, and the interior design is something to awe at as well.
Sunrise Coffee is definitely my favorite coffee spot to frequent. This place is just as amazing as Mothership, probably because it’s run by the same owners. Sunrise came first, Mothership second, but of course the same locally roasted beans are brewed at both. The addition of an outdoor Library locker recently, really made my heart flutter. Definitely order yourself a Butterbeer latte and a NOM NOM Burrito. You won’t regret it.
This is a much newer roaster in the Las Vegas coffee scene. Their locally roasted coffee has me swooning. I’m a huge fan of the Goosebumps Espresso Roast, myself. They also feature a coffee club subscription, where you can have fresh coffee delivered in intervals of your choosing. Definitely check them out.
Serenade doesn’t just feature amazing coffee. They really have me hooked on their honey toast. Many flavors, all divine, get there! Trust me when I say that the drive south is worth it. Both adorable and delicious.
Oh… Sambalatte… Home of the rainbow latte. This place (including all of their locations) has an amazing atmosphere, great food, and high quality coffee beverages. I just wish they weren’t so busy all of the time.
This place is a class of it’s own. Just go there, and be sure to ask about their “secret” menu.
7. Is Sweet
The photo below.. speaks for itself. Their coffee and deserts are on point.
