Mother’s Day Gift Extra-Charles Viancin Silicone Lids

I was in the kitchen putting things away and came across my Charles Viancin Lily pad and thought to myself that these would be an amazing and affordable mother’s day gift. I had to hop on Confectionalism and fill you guys in.

These things are pretty cool. They are a versatile lid and a reusable replacement for plastic wrap. They from an airtight/watertight seal on any smooth rimmed bowl or container for heating or storing. The photograph here is not an exaggeration.  And it’s an amazing little invention as you literally just set the lid on a smooth rimmed bowl and you are able to pick it up by the handle. It isn’t snapped on or clipped or anything. It’s innovative design forms an airtight suction. I show everyone these when they visit or if I cover anything to a carry-in or potluck with them. They are a definite conversation starter. Every single person that witnesses these in action are mesmerized. Be mindful though, the product is not suggested or recommended to be used as a carrying handle, but with supervision and caution it’s just fun to do in front of friends. I bought a few for family and friends this past christmas and they loved them.

They aren’t just fancy replacements for plastic wrap either. You can cook with them. Cover your casserole while heating it in the oven,  top your mug while heating water for tea in the microwave, or even use it as a splatter guard for your pasta sauce on the stove. They are microwave and heat proof to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Plus…….. dishwasher safe!

I personally don’t find their lily pad design very appealing. Something about the pale green color and light pink handle that I find unattractive. They do come in many different colors and designs though.  Other than my obsession with aesthetics I couldn’t find anything bad to say about this product. It really is neat. If I do find that it fails me in any way, or disappoints, I’ll be sure to let everyone know. I think mom will approve. I hope this suggestion will help some of you who are struggling to find a mother’s day gift for the cooking mom who has everything.
